For years we dreamed of our own distinctive restaurant, one that was about creating an atmosphere for our guest to enjoy great food, music and culture. In 2021, we opened Indigenous Underground in the Downtown Historical District of Abbeville, SC, celebrating Southern eclectic cuisine and bringing a new focus to the small town food scene.
Indigenous Underground came together under the vision of Chef Erica (Trudy) McCier, a native resident of Abbeville and a 2023 South Carolina Chef Ambassador. Chef Erica’s vision was to create a gathering place for friends, families, locals and visitors to experience big city flavors in a small town setting.
As a South Carolina Certified Fresh On the Menu establishment, we are dedicated to providing our guest with fresh produce, dairy, and a variety of goods from South Carolina Certified farms. Along with our distinct selections of fare from our menu one can also enjoy evenings of live entertainment, cooking demonstrations with wine pairings, and special events like our Spring and Fall Outdoor Dining Experiences.
